RM553.07 Million for Food Self-Sufficiency
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said that the State Government has allocated RM553.07 million for the agriculture, fishery and food industry sectors to boost Sabah's food self-sufficiency level.
"We have introduced various initiatives, innovations and development programmes for the industry," he said on 4 February 2024 at the meet and greet programme with members of the Putatan Farmers' Organisation at the Mobile Food Kiosk area, Putatan. "We will continue to support the Farmers' Organisation given their crucial role in the development of the state's food industry. Nonetheless, farmers organisations must diversify their economic activities and venture into the downstream industry. Downstream industry will improve our socio-economic status," said Hajiji.
"Putatan district’s close proximity to Kota Kinabalu City gives the Putatan Farmers' Organisation an added advantage to be a player in the agro-food value chain marketing industry. Explore partnership with the public and private sectors in the agro-food value chain sector," the Chief Minister added.
