Hajiji Visits Tourism Ministry
13 June 2024
Continuing his scheduled working visits to all state ministries, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor was at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Wisma Tun Fuad Stephens, Kota Kinabalu, on 13 June 2024.
Among the issues discussed include the following:
- The Pala'u community’s encroachment into the state marine park. In June 2024, some personnel have demolished structures at the Tun Sakaran Marine Park, Kudat. The Pala’u community lives at these stilt structures. The security forces have raised their concerns and have advised that the structures are built on security-sensitive areas which could be used as transit points for cross-border crimes. Hajiji – who is Chairman of the State Security Committee - said that the matter will be discussed at the State Security Committee meeting soon; and relocation of the Pala'u people may be an option.
- On the Sabah My Second Home (SM2H) issue, Sabah will inform the Federal Ministry of Tourism that the State has approved the programme for implementation.
- The government will search for a new site to build a new State Museum. The present State Museum can only exhibit about 10 per cent of artefacts collections while the rest are in storage.
- The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment will build the Kinarut Cultural Centre to showcase Sabah’s 30 diverse culture and traditions.
