SOGDC, Gibson and Aramco Sign Agreements

State-owned Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (SOGDC) and London-based shipbroker, E.A. Gibson Shipbrokers Ltd (Gibson), struck a collaborative agreement on 28 June 2024 for the development of oil and gas infrastructures at the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP).

SOGDC also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aramco Trading Singapore Pte Ltd for the supply of feedstock for the project. SOGDC and Gibson will jointly construct O&G facilities including the construction of a purpose-built jetty, onshore hydrocarbon storage terminals, a custom-designed floating powerplant, an LNG bunkering operation and LNG shuttle vessels.

The project is expected to generate 1,600 jobs for the local economy. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor witnessed the signing of the Agreement at Menara Kinabalu.
