Sabah Targets 40 Gold

Sarawak will be hosting Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) 2024 from 17 August 2024 to 24 August 2024. At the 20th SUKMA 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah’s team brought home 30 golds, 30 silvers, and 38 bronzes, which was placed sixth among 15 contingents in the nation's most prestigious sports meet, which also included the Brunei Darussalam contingent. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor urged Sabah's 713-strong contingent for the 21st edition of the SUKMA, Sarawak to achieve or surpass the 40-gold target.

Hajiji handed over the State flag to the Sabah contingent on 1 August 2024 at a ceremony at the Sabah International Convention Centre. The Chief Minister advised officials and athletes to maintain the highest degree of discipline including dietary intakes; and sleep, rest and recovery hours.
