Hajiji Urges Sabahans to Embrace National Day and Sabah Day in the Spirit of Patriotism

“Peace, harmony, unity in diversity and aspirations unite us. They outweigh challenges that divide us. Let us keep in our hearts that the National Day and Sabah Day celebrations belong to us. Let us stand firm in support of the government and not be influenced by negativities that threaten to divide us."

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, 30 August 2024, in a National Day and Sabah Day 2024 message, Kota Kinabalu.

The CM said that Sabah Day celebration is more meaningful because it is celebrated simultaneously with the National Day beginning 2024. He said that 32st August each year is important and rooted in history, not just for remembrance and celebrations but to be embraced in the spirit of patriotism and in appreciating the great courage and sacrifices of the country's freedom fighters.

Hajiji asked Malaysians in Sabah to be steadfast in protecting the country's sovereignty and continue to celebrate the National Day and Sabah Day in high spirits and humility because independence is a priceless gift. The theme of the National Day 2024 celebrations - "Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka" – is reflective the government's commitment to continue developing a just and prosperous society and of the love for the country.
