National Budget Stays Focus on Rural Development

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said that the 2025 National Budget - tabling in Parliament on 18 October 2024 - is expected to continue the nation’s focus on rural development to narrow the gap between rural and urban areas and to improve basic amenities, including dilapidated schools and clinics in Sabah and greater access to roads, clean treated water, and electricity supply.

Hajiji said – during a State Development Action Council (Majlis Tindakan Pembangunan Negeri or MTPNg) meeting on 15 October 2024 at Menara Kinabalu, that Sabah will continue receiving allocation earmarked for rural development in the National 2025 Budget. The 2025 Budget is a long-term framework to uplift Malaysia's economy in line with the theme "Ekonomi MADANI, Negara Makmur, Rakyat Sejahtera."

In line with the theme, the State Government will also continue to enhance social security provision for people across the board, employment with better salaries and measures and policies that will see a fair distribution of the nation's wealth. Hajiji called upon all the agencies and departments to evaluate their respective performance for the past three quarters of 2024. The CM reminded state administrators and officers to implement and complete federal development projects without having to wait for the land titles to be issued.
