Drone Technology to Boost Planning and Processes
Drone technology has many impacts globally in economic sectors, including agriculture, tourism, construction, logistics and security. Sabah has also taken advantage of this technological advancement in various fields and the State Government wants to further promote its use. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor has directed the Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA) to continue promoting drone technology as productivity-enhancing and development project monitoring tools.
SEDIA - being the government’s body to monitor and spearhead Sabah's economic development - is on track to guide the state achieve sustainable development and global competitiveness, Hajiji said at the Sabah Drone Open Day on 29 October 2024 at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Kota Kinabalu. "Drone technology has assisted in resolving worker shortage issues in the agriculture sector. The government, industry, researchers and community must quickly and effectively adapt drone technology to spur Sabah's economy," Hajiji, who is also chairman of SEDIA, said.
Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, delivered the Chief Minister's speech.
