Government Gives Financial and Food Assistance to Flood Victims in Beaufort and Membakut
The Federal and State governments distributed emergency cash assistance totalling RM1,300 to families affected by the floods in Beaufort and in Membakut. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said RM1,000 comes from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and RM300 from Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah (YKS). Each family who has been evacuated to the temporary evacuation centres also received food assistance.

The Chief Minister said on 11 March 2025 during a visit to the evacuation centres that several evacuation centres were opened since flood started on 7 March 2025. The centres accommodated 1,944 people from 614 families. The town area in Beaufort was still submerged in water as at the second week of March 2025. Hajiji has directed the Irrigation and Drainage Department to clear all waterways and drains to mitigate flooding during the wet season. The Chief Minister also visited evacuation centres in Membakut where 836 victims are staying.
