Computer Laptops for Students
The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government initiated the Program Bantuan Ihsan Komputer (BAIK) in 2022 to assist underprivileged students to acquire laptops. Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said that the program has benefitted 2,000 deserving students at institutions of higher learnings. The program will continue every year. “In addition to BAIK, the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government has rolled out financial programs for students, including BUDI and BAKTI, Hajiji said.
“We must ensure that our students are equipped with the necessary tools.” he said, on 11 March 2025. Norshafikah Zaiddi, 24, an accounting student at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kota Kinabalu, expressed her gratitude for finally owning her own laptop. Norshafikah, from Sandakan, said that she had to share a laptop with her sibling.
“I am thrilled that I now have my own laptop, which makes it easier for me to complete assignments,” she said. Sabnah Jamdan, 43, whose daughter is enrolled at the Labuan Matriculation College, thanked the government for this provision under the BAIK program. “The laptop makes it easier for our child, to complete her assignments. Alhamdulillah, this assistance is of great help to my child,” said the full-time housewife. For 2024, 1,000 students at institutions of higher education benefited from BAIK.
