Ranau sees another transformation with the development of a new township at Paginatan. The 200-acre township, located 43 km from Ranau, will be developed in five phases, involving the construction of various amenities, including government offices, shops, low-cost housing, multi-purpose hall, library, health centre, market, police and fire stations.

The Paginatan New Township project will spur the local economy, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development roadmap, which aims at prioritising the well-being of the people and improving the quality of life. When completed, the people in Paginatan need not travel to the nearest towns – Ranau or Telupid – for basic needs including dealing with official matter with government agencies.

Hajiji assured that the government will continue to address issues affecting the people in Paginatan constituency. The State Government, through the Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority (SHTDA), is committed to tackle urban and rural poverty in the state through the development of new townships. During the event, Hajiji also said that Sabah’s political stability must be tied to cooperation with the Federal Government.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor was at Paginatan on 12 August 2025 for the ground-breaking ceremony. At the event, Hajiji who is GRS Chairman, said that Sabah must have a strong relationship with the Federal Government in order to maintain political stability. Therefore, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will maintain the present formula of cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the upcoming state election, Hajiji said.

"Strong ties with the Federal Government will ensure political stability which will bring prosperity to the people," Hajiji said. "We have more than 400 initiatives under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya development agenda, and 94 per cent of them have already been implemented.”

The present GRS-PH State Government has proven its track record of bringing progress to Sabah including giving monthly assistance of RM300 to 100,000 hardcore poor, and the government has reiterated that this initiative will continue. The GRS-PH State Government has also succeeded in creating greater participation for Sabahans in the oil and gas sector through the historic signing of the Commercial Collaborative Agreement (CCA) with Petronas in 2021.
