The People of Sabah Will Give GRS Another Mandate
The ruling coalition - Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) - is becoming stronger as the state election looms closer. Confidence is climbing to a peak. Majority of people on the streets and coffee shops and offices and on social media has expressed strong sentiment for local parties to lead the State Government.
The present GRS government is a coalition bloc of eight local parties, namely Parti Solidariti Tanahairku (Star), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Gagasan Rakyat, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), Parti Harapan Sabah, United Sabah National Organisation (USNO), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS).
"These eight local parties are our hope in the impending state election. This is another golden opportunity for the voters to renew GRS’ mandate,” Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said at the Yayasan Sabah with the People Roadshow (Yayasan Sabah Bersama Rakyat or YSBR) on 28 August 2025 held at the Pisompuruan Square, Tambunan.
“GRS leaders in Tambunan and all constituencies must win. The GRS State Government has a proven track record of bringing development to the state and its people.” Hajiji, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman, said that GRS has delivered successes in all sectors of the economy. This is in pale in comparison with the previous state government led by Parti Warisan Sabah under Shafie Apdal, whose two and a half years as Chief Minister was chaotic. Shafie was also the Federal Minister of Rural Development for seven years and development at Sabah’s rural areas were insignificant.
"In agriculture, we have revived the Sabah Padi and Rice Board, and we will achieve the state's food self-sufficiency level (SSL) to 60 per cent by 2030, the CM said. “In the industrial sector, we have secured numerous high-impact foreign investments such as a RM31 billion investment by a Singapore company whose economic spillovers include jobs creation and supply lines for local businesses. In welfare assistance, we have spent RM1.4 billion to assist 70,000 people and given RM300 monthly assistance to 100,000 poor and hardcore poor people in Sabah for one year, and in education, we have spent RM1.33 billion.
