More State Land Alienated for Kampung Reserves
The State Government has approved an additional 40,000 acres of state land for kampong reserves. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said that the GRS State Government has gazetted the kampung lands to ensure that the needs of the local communities are prioritised. The 40,000 acres of state land are the Sabah Forest Industry (SFI) concession area. "One of the pillars of Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) is the people's prosperity, so we must honour it," Hajiji said at the launch of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Kemabong election machinery on 8 November 2025 in Tenom. Datuk Rubin Balang will still be the GRS candidate for Kemabong in the 17th State Assembly General Election in November 2025. "We have a solid machinery and full support from the voters in Kemabong. We will continue the development agenda.”
Under the GRS government, Sabah has moved forward significantly, with huge foreign investments; greater participation, and increased ownership in the oil and gas industry, including more than 80 local vendors involved in the oil and gas industry compared to just 10 in 2022, now commanding 36 percent of the contract market share; and previously, 30,000 people listed as recipients of welfare aides which has increased to 70,000 people under the present State Government rule. The opposition is focussed on negative and "revenge" politics, but GRS is focussed on people welfare and State development, Hajiji added.
