Community Leader Must Disseminate Information Effectively
A total of 45 community development leaders (Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat or PPM) took their oath of office and pledged the “Aku Janji” on 13 January 2026. “You are the eyes and ears for the government. You are the bridge between the Government and the people. You must disseminate information on government policies and programmes to the community,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor told the leaders at the event at Menara Kinabalu.
“You must create awareness of the efforts and successes that we have achieved. The community deserves to know the achievements by the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government. They have given us the mandate to run the government, and they must be kept updated of the achievements.” The hot topics are water, electricity and roads, Hajiji said.
The community must be updated of ongoing efforts. The Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development initiative has uplifted Sabah’s economy and – post COVID-19 – it has increased revenue from RM4 billion to RM7 billion and boosted reserves to more than RM8.6 billion. Investments have soared and PPLs must constantly remind the community about the successes, including the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP), which is now fully occupied; and most recently an investor from Singapore pumped RM31 billion there, potentially triggering 7,000 job opportunities.
Hajiji said that PPLs must share information to the people including that the State Government will strengthen the SMJ 2.0 Development Roadmap, which will be launched by January 2026. Remind the people that the SMJ Development Plan has successfully laid a strong development foundation and delivered benefits to the people, Hajiji added.
