New Committee To Assess State Public-Private Partnership and Concession Projects

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor chaired the first Chief Minister’s Department post-cabinet meeting since the November 2025 elections.

The meeting – on 21 January 2026 – focused on a few key issues including the establishment of the Public-Private Partnership and Concession Project Management Committee to replace the State Privatisation Committee formed in 1991. New public-private project proposals would be referred to the committee for scrutiny and endorsement including joint ventures involving the State.

For the Rumah Mesra SMJ initiative, the State Cabinet has approved financing of up to RM95,000 per unit. Hajiji also announced that the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 (2026-2030) Development Plan would be launched on 30 January 2026.
