State Government Intensifies Flood Response Efforts

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor today reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of flood victims, with the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) closely monitoring developments in affected areas.

All available assets and personnel have been mobilised through the District Disaster Management Committees to ensure immediate and coordinated assistance.

As of the latest report by JPBN, 336 individuals from 111 families have been relocated to five Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) in Kota Marudu and Pitas. The situation in Sandakan and Paitan continues to be monitored.

The Chief Minister also urged residents in low-lying and high-risk areas to remain alert and comply with safety advisories issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a separate development, the State Government extended financial assistance to 16 individuals affected on 18 February 2026 fire in Kampung Tanjung Aru. The contributions were presented at the Kampung Sembulan PPS by Putatan Member of Parliament Datuk Shahelmey Yahya and Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah (YKS) Director Datuk Diyanah Abdullah.
