Sabah Honours and Celebrates Cultural and Religious Differences
Sabah celebrates every cultural and religious event in the most harmonious and unifying atmosphere. The State Government supports programmes that enhance unity among the people which in turn promote racial harmony, and social and cultural development, in line with the aspirations of the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya initiatives.
Sabah’s “angpow festival” has been a popular platform to preserve, continue and share the cultural values of the Chinese community. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said that Sabah must continue respecting differences among one another in order to strengthen unity and harmony in its multi-racial society.
“Unity happens when we stand together and appreciate the diversity that exists within our community. This Angpow Festival brings us closer together and we always look forward to the Chinese community’s strategic partner in driving the state’s development. This is our identity : strength though diversity and not differences dividing us,” Hajiji said when officiating at the 2026 Angpow Festival on 28 February 2026 organised by the Chung Fook Tong Association in collaboration with 10 other Chinese associations in Tamparuli.
Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, delivered the CM’s speech.
