Additional RM22.7 million Grant for Biodiversity Conservation

Sabah’s biodiversity conservation efforts received another RM22 million grant from the Federal Government under its Ecological Fiscal Transfer (EFT) initiative for the state’s environment conservation programs. The grant now has a total of RM126 million accumulated since 2019. Dato' Sri Arthur Joseph, Federal Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), visited Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Haji Noor on 9 March 2026 at Menara Kinabalu and presented the grant. They also discussed the amendment to the 1974 Environment Quality Act and the harmonisation of the National Climate Change Bill with Sabah’s legislation to ensure that the carbon economy will be optimised.
