Interim Payment RM1.5 billion for Sabah Soon

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced on 30 May 2026 at the main celebration of the Sabah Harvest Festival / Pesta Kaamatan in Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, that the Federal Government will released the RM1.5 billion interim payment of the special grant for Sabah.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said that Sabah is looking forward to the disbursement of the funds as soon as possible. Anwar also promised that the Federal Government will honour the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).

"The State Government will work closely with the Federal Government to ensure all the provisions under MA63, and especially the 40 per cent special grant will be fulfilled soonest," Hajiji said.
