Sabah Best Achievement in Malaysia in Drugs Cases
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor – chairing a meeting of the State Drug Eradication Action Council (Majlis Tindakan Membanteras Dadah or MTMD) on 15 June 2026 at Menara Kinabalu - said that Sabahans are proud of Sabah achieving the best rate in the country in 2025, with only 230 drug addicts and substance abusers. The drugs addict cases also decreased by 6 per cent, with 8,665 cases compared to 9,607 in 2024.
“This demonstrates the effectiveness of the concerted efforts by all parties in curbing the supply and demand of drugs and substances. We continue to prioritise the fight against drug smuggling and distribution," Hajiji said.
The Chief Minister commended the National Anti-Drugs Agency (Agensi Anti Dadah Kebangsaan or AADK) and the Royal Malaysia Police (Polis Di Raja Malaysia or PDRM) for their efforts and commitments in combating drug abuse. Hajiji said that the State Government remains steadfast in supporting comprehensive efforts to eradicate the drug menace and achieving a drug-free society. The MTMD Sabah meeting also discussed the expansion of drugfree workplace programmes in the state public sector.
