Strengthening The Energy Sector Remains A Key State Strategic Development Priority

The State’s blueprint for the development of its energy sector – Sabah Energy Roadmap and Master Plan 2040 (SE-RAMP 2040) – continues to initiate programmes to strengthen energy security, to diversify energy sources, and to increase the use of renewable energy. The Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) - the state agency spearheading the transformation and development of the State's energy sector – launched the “Sabah Sustainable Energy for the People - Sabah Energy Efficiency Action Plan (SEEAP) and the Sabah People Solar” programme on 30 July 2026 in Kota Kinabalu.

“The various initiatives launched today form a complementary ecosystem to our energy plans,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said.

"The recognition of solar projects, the implementation of the Government Lead by Example initiative, collaboration with training institutions, entrepreneur development through the Memorandum of Understanding with Institut Keusahawanan Negara Berhad (INSKEN), and the corporate social responsibility programmes, show that sustainable energy development requires the participation of all stakeholders. We must collaborate with the Federal Government, industry players, investors, financial institutions, and the private sector.”

The State Government will continue to prioritise the energy sector as one of Sabah's strategic development agendas because the energy transition involves policy, investment, human capital development, research, innovation and close collaboration between the Government, industry, educational institutions and the community, Hajiji added.
