Hajiji Officiates Mandani Kita Event in Beaufort
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor was at Beaufort for three events on 1st November 2026: Mandani Kita event; Bagandang Festival; and the presentation of land titles.
- For the illegal drugs prevention event, the CM said that the State will focus on three main strategies in the fight against drug abuse:
- strengthen families and communities as the primary line of defence against drug abuse.
- enhance enforcement and integrated cooperation among agencies, including Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan or AADK, the Royal Malaysia Police (Polis Diraja Malaysia or PDRM), the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and other relevant agencies.
- expand access to treatment, rehabilitation and employment opportunities to enable individuals struggling with drug addiction to regain their independence and lead productive lives.
Nationwide, 130,307 individuals were recorded as drug addicts and abusers in the first half of 2026, a 3.4 per cent decrease from 134,916 in the corresponding period of 2025. Sabah, 5,269 individuals were recorded, a 0.02 per cent decrease compared with the same period of 2025. Despite the marginal decline, the state government has said that the fight against drugs abuse must continue because the drug menace keeps on evolving, particularly involving synthetic drugs such as Amphetamine-Type Stimulants (ATS), New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl.
Hajiji said that the Sabah National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) has implemented various initiatives to combat drugs abuse including the Drug-Free Aspiration Village Programme (Kampung Aspirasi Bebas Dadah or KABD); FELDA Sejahtera MADANI Community Programme; Two-Wheeled AntiDrug Squad Roadshow; Drug-Free Aspiration Tour (Jelajah Aspirasi Bebas Dadah or JABD), Moto Day 9.0 and Ops Cegah Khas, and targeted actions in High-Risk Areas (Kawasan Berisiko Tinggi or KBT).
The RM2.3 million allocation in 2026 has strengthened drug prevention efforts through the expansion of the Public Sector TEKAD Programme and the empowerment of the Anti-Drug Squad (SKUAD Antidadah). “Behind every recorded statistic are individuals and families who need attention, guidance and support to build better lives,” Hajiji said at the MADANI Kita 2026 Programme and the closing of the Beaufort Bagandang Festival at Dataran Bagandang on 1st November 2026 in Beaufort. “We must provide opportunities and support for individuals who are striving to recover.
They must be guided, given a second chance, supported and assisted.” For the Beaufort Bagandang Arts Festival, Hajiji said it will a good platform to prepare Beaufort for the Visit Sabah Year 2027, while generating economic and social benefits for the community by providing business opportunities for local entrepreneurs through sales stalls and traditional tamu markets. At the event, the Chief Minister presented 247 land titles covering a total of 889.21 acres to villagers.
