Sabah Will Continue to Focus on Youth Development
Most Sabahans are satisfied with the sports development programmes. During a working visit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Wisma Muis, Kota Kinabalu on 19 September 2024, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said that the youths are Sabah’s hopes and future leaders.
The government is continuing to guide and provide. The Youth Entrepreneur Development Programme (SYABAS), for example, is a government-sponsored youth program, which has helped youths to become highly successful, with some of them achieving millionaire status, Hajiji said.
The Ministry has allocated RM7 million for the programme which has benefitted 5,500 recipients in various business pursuits. The Chief Minister congratulated the Sabah Sukma contingent for securing 29 golds in the 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) held in Sarawak in August 2024. He also congratulated Eddy Bernard, Sabah’s Paralympian to the Paris Paralympics 2024 for winning bronze medal in the 100m sprint event. “We are continuing to further improve the standard of sports in Sabah, including refurbishing sports complexes and facilities to benefit aspiring athletes,” Hajiji said.
