Sabah Get Higher Allocation in National Budget 2025

Prime Minister cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim unveiled the nation’s 2025 Budget in Parliament on 18 October 2024. Sabah gets an allocation of RM6.7 billion, an increase of about 0.5% compared to 2024's RM6.67 billion. The increase in interim special payment for Sabah from RM300 million to RM600 million for 2025 was also included in the Budget. The PM also announced the following:

  • the issuance of acceptance letters for 17 packages of the Pan Borneo Sabah Highway Project, 1B Phase, which include the Kota Belud-Kudat Road alignment; Tawau - Kampung Lot M; and Telupid-Ranau, totaling RM9.7 billion.
  • the award of two packages of the RM7.4 billion Sabah Sarawak Link Road Phase, the remaining to be awarded by end of 2024.
  • upgrading of Tawau Airport.
  • allocations to repair dilapidated schools in Sabah.
  • Sabah's undisputed right for development as stipulated in the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).
  • Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said that 2025 National Budget reflects the Government’s continuous focus on development amidst a clear sign of Malaysia's fast improving economy.
