Sabah Has a new Disaster Command Centre
Sabah has a disaster command centre, the first of its kind in Malaysia. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor launched the RM750,000 State Disaster Command Centre (SDCC) on 2 July 2025, developed jointly by the State Disaster Management Committee and the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).
The centre – which took eight months to set up - is funded by the NASMA and it is located at Menara Kinabalu. The SDCC is equipped with up-to-date technological assets for information and communication, including a video conferencing system and a comprehensive database for gathering and analysing disaster information.
The objective of having SDCC is to ensure coordinated actions in efficient respond time during a natural disaster, such as massive floodings. It will serve as an integrated platform to coordinate the actions of security and rescue agencies, NGOs, and research bodies during disasters.
