Sabah Allocated RM1.33 billion For Education
Sabah has rolled out 14 new initiatives worth RM164.14 million from 2021 to 2025, for 211,000 students. The state government’s total allocation for education during the same period is RM1.33 billion.From the allocated funds, RM848.26 million has been spent on various educational assistance, and RM485 million is allocated for human capital development.
"Academic excellence is crucial for the state and country. Every child in Sabah will have access toquality education," Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said on 29 July 2025 at the Sabah State Education Department’s 13th Academic Excellence Recognition Ceremony (Majlis Pengiktirafan Kecemerlangan Akademik or MEKAR) held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Kota Kinabalu. “Education is the key to the future of our children.” Datuk Dr. Haji Mohd. Arifin Datuk Mohd. Arif, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, delivered CM’s speech.
- Sabah has implemented several initiatives to enhance quality education including the following:
- established the Sabah Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council in May 2025 to coordinate 160 technical and vocational training institutions throughout the state.
- provided cash incentive of RM1,000 to 146 outstanding STPM 2024 students and RM3,000 cash to students who excelled at national level.

Hajiji said that the State and Federal governments will continue to proritise quality infrastructure and excellent educational ecosystem for students in Sabah.
