Business Events Platforms Enhance Regional and Global Collaboration
Sabah continues to leverage on business events (BE) to enhance its capabilities on regional engagement and investment dialogue. Sabah believes that these platforms are good because they expand cross-border collaboration and connect regional capabilities to global networks. “As global networking evolves, we will continue to enhance our standards and our partnerships,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said at the 3rd International Business Events Forum (BE in Sabah 2026) on 4 February 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (ICC), Kota Kinabalu. “We are committed to enhance connectivity, fostering partnerships and supporting impactful platforms that yield practical outcomes.”
Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, represented the Chief Minister and delivered the Chief Minister’s speech.
Hajiji said that platforms for business events are important to foster industry growth, facilitate investment discussions, and promote local participation, and especially among small and medium enterprises, professionals and young talent. The “BE in Sabah” platform provides opportunities for direct engagement with international industry leaders while enhancing the capacity and sophistication of the state’s local ecosystem, Hajiji said. Sabah – being strategically positioned within East ASEAN, a subregion with significant economic potentials – also has the Sabah Convention Bureau (SCB), operating under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, to support and create a reliable interface for international events, he added. Sabah also has good venues to host big events including SICC, a purpose-built facility that can host large-scale gatherings and events, the CM said.
