Shell Malaysia To Increase Local Participation Initiatives
Shell Malaysia visited and briefed Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor on 5 February 2026 at Menara Kinabalu on Shell’s business ongoing activities and projects in Sabah including the company’s efforts to nurture local entrepreneurship through its Shell LiveWIRE programme.
Siti Sulaiman, Shell Malaysia’s Country Chair and Senior Vice President of Upstream Malaysia, led the delegation. Hajiji said that in 2025 the State Government has set a 100 per cent target to increase the value of Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) contracts awarded to local companies.
“This target underscores the state’s firm commitment to strengthening local involvement and fostering a resilient, homegrown energy ecosystem,” Hajiji said. “We look forward to Shell Malaysia’s initiatives to boost local participation in the state’s oil and gas industry, aimed at expanding economic opportunities for Sabahans.”
Shell’s delegation includes Alexon Jong, General Manager of Sabah Shell; Jonathan Jolly, General Manager, Corporate Relations East Malaysia; and Liz Kumar, Corporate Relations Advisor - East Malaysia.
