Chief Minister Inspects Pan Borneo Highway Project
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor conducted a busy working visit on 4 May 2026 to three major sites : package WP25 and package WP24 of the Pan Borneo Highway project at Sukau; and Security Inspection at the Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (ESS Zone). The status of the 14.96 kilometres, RM269.9 million, WP25 highway project - which spans from Kampung Perpaduan Datuk Moh to Sukau – is estimated at 12% completion against a scheduled target of 15%. The date of completion is February 2028. The project includes a flyover, bus stops, pedestrian bridges, drainage, and culvert systems.
The status of the 15.88-kilometre WP24 highway project - stretching from Sungai Takala to Kampung Perpaduan Datuk Moh – is 15% completion with slight delays. Officials from Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) said that the major constraints affecting work progress, include issues involving utility relocation, land acquisition and demolition of existing structures.
Hajiji stressed the need to quickly and effectively address all issues to avoid affecting the project implementation timeline because the Sabah Pan Borneo Highway Project Phase 1B is among the government’s strategic initiatives to strengthen the road infrastructure network, thereby boosting economic growth and connecting key areas on Sabah’s East Coast.
