Conference on Business, Education, and Economics
Six institutions jointly organised the inaugural Borneo International Conference on Business, Education, Economics and Management (BICBEEM) which was held on 7th October 2026 at the Raia Hotel, Kota Kinabalu.
The six institutions are the Institute for Government and People Cooperation (Institut Kerjasama Kerajaan dan Rakyat or IKRAR), North Borneo University College (NBUC), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the Borneo Universities Consortium (Konsortium Universiti Universitas Borneo or KUUB).
“This event is a meaningful step towards strengthening the knowledge ecosystem and collaborative networks among the government, higher education institutions, industry and the community. We look forward to BICBEEM serving as a platform for the exchange of ideas and views, while strengthening collaborative networks among participants, researchers, industry practitioners and the institutions of higher learning. Sabah and Borneo can be a living laboratory for conducting research that has both academic value and economic impact,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said in his speech.
BICBEEM can explore collaborative research in rural economic development, digital transformation, youth entrepreneurship, smart agriculture, community-based tourism, environmental sustainability, small and medium enterprise development, and enhancing the competitiveness of the local economy, Hajiji added.
