As Sabah moves forward in adopting sustainable development practices across industries, the handling and treatment of chemical waste is of utmost important to save our earth. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor’s message on scheduled waste management on 29 April 2024 at the launching of the Integrated Schedule Waste Management Facility at the Hilton Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, touched on priorities. Sabah must have facilities with new standards in scheduled waste management through innovative practices and advanced technologies, with specific solutions to various industrial requirements, Hajiji said.

Environmental conservation and sustainable development are key foundational pillars of the state’s development blueprint –the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya, the Chief Minister reiterated.

The waste management facility, located at Sabah Oil and Gas Industrial Park (Sogip), Sipitang, is operated by Tex Evolusi Waste Management Sdn Bhd.

"Tex Evolusi Waste Management Sdn Bhd will lead the way to set new standards and best practices for environmentally sustainable practices, Hajiji said. “The new facility complements our environmental sustainability efforts, and it is the right step in technology transfer in waste management systems. The facility brings cost-saving benefits for the industry by eliminating the need to transport scheduled waste outside of Sabah for treatment.”

The company is committed to attain a 70 per cent local workforce within the initial two years of operation and will reach 99 per cent local staff content by the fifth year.
