Hajiji Leads Sabah in MA63

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor achieves another victory for Sabah. In January 2024, Sabah manages its own electricity and energy resources. Sabah regains control of the regulatory power over electricity supply and renewable energy from the Federal Government, effective from January 2024. Hajiji has led the fight for state rights, and he has successfully obtained this energy and electricity control as part of the devolution of power under the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63). The CM is confident of revitalising Sabah’s energy supply.

Hajiji created the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) in 2023 and subsequently he guided the team to establish the Sabah Energy Roadmap and Master Plan 2040 (SE-RAMP 2040).

Hajiji led the State Legislative Assembly to successfully pass three Bills in a special sitting on 3 January 2024 to facilitate the transfer of regulatory protocols. The Bills were Electricity Supply 2024, Renewable Energy 2024 and Energy Commission of Sabah (Amendment) 2024.

Thanks to Hajiji, ECoS is now the authority to regulate the electricity supply sector and renewable energy in Sabah. For on-shore gas supply, ECoS has already regained regulatory control since January 2023.Under Hajiji’s leadership, Sabah’s rights under the MA63 will continuously be protected.
