Hajiji Regains Control of Electricity Supply and Renewable Energy for Sabah
Sabah has often suffered power challenges in the past several years. In his daily work routines, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor has always asked stakeholders to put Sabahans first. Hajiji knew that people and businesses have suffered, and he has vowed to make a difference. He has kept his promises.
In 2023, Hajiji created the Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) and in 2024 he launched the Sabah Energy Roadmap and Master Plan 2040 (SE-RAMP 2040) to navigate Sabah’s energy transition. The CM has successfully set the stage for revitalising Sabah’s energy supply, and to develop a robust plan for stable, adequate, affordable and sustainable energy supply.
Over the course of many months, Hajiji and team worked hard to resolve Sabah’s power challenges. By January 2024, Hajiji has successfully secured the transfer of regulatory power from the Federal Government to the State Government, allowing Sabah to manage its own energy requirements and supply.
