Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced - on 12 September 2024 - an additional RM600 million funding for Sabah at the 1963 Malaysia Agreement Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) meeting at Kota Kinabalu. Earlier in 2024, the Federal Government has paid RM300 million as part of an interim special grant to the state.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor welcomed the interim special grant, pending the decision on the 40 per cent revenue that the Federal Government owes Sabah.

"The announcement and allocation is an acknowledgement to Sabah's development needs and the commitment of the Federal Government in fulfilling its obligations to the state," Hajiji said.

Datuk Seri Anwar chaired the MTPMA63 meeting which Premier of Sarawak Tan Sri Johari Tun Openg was also present.
