Sports, Fitness, Healthy Lifestyle Must be Our Choice
Sabah will have a special initiative to enhance the healthcare sector. Nevertheless, people, and particularly the youths, must choose healthy and active lifestyles, including active sports activities, to ensure positive well-being.
“Sports builds a healthy, active and productive society, and it is a platform to unite people,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said when officiating the Sabah State-Level National Sports Day 2026 celebration on 10th October 2026 at Padang Istiadat, Tuaran.
“The National Sports Day aims to make sports, fitness and active living to be part of people's daily lives. Sports teaches us discipline, leadership, teamwork, resilience and the determination not to give up easily. These are the values we need to nurture a capable and competitive younger generation.”
Sabah targets 651,610 participants for this year's National Sports Day celebrations which involves several zones including Tuaran, Tawau, Sandakan, Beaufort, Kudat and Keningau. The National Sports Day must be a catalyst for people of all ages. It will also be a platform to identify promising young athletes at the district level who could be groomed to compete at state, national and international levels, Hajiji added.
