Sabah has repeatedly call for additional parliamentary seats for the State as outlined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to honour the spirit of nationhood and to further protect the interest of its people. The latest call was on 12 September 2025, at the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) meeting in Kuching, Sarawak. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim chaired the meeting. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor – who led Sabah’s delegation - said the meeting has opened the door for further discussions.

"In principle, the Prime Minister said that he agrees to the demand but that the matter needs to be thoroughly discussed at the technical level because as it involves amendment to the Federal constitution,” Hajiji said. Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg led the delegation from host state, Sarawak.

Hajiji also raised the issue of tourism to be listed in the concurrent list. Meanwhile, Hajiji welcomed the launching of the RM7.6 billion Sabah-Sarawak Link Road Phase 2 (SSLR 2) on 12 September 2025, a major step forward for Sabah and Sarawak in enhancing seamless connectivity and in promoting economic growth.
