Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor always think about the future of our youths. He has said in September 2025 that Sabah’s future is in the hands of the young generation. In 2022, he has said that education is one of Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya development plan’s pillars. In 2021, Hajiji’s government gave RM200 to each of the 40,277 Sabah students for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examinations under the Bantuan Khas Tunai Peperiksaan (BAKTI) programme; and, also in 2021, the State Government spent RM10 million to assist 5,000 students pay their registration fee under the Bantuan Wang Pendaftaran IPT (BUDI), for diploma-level and degree-level studies. Since 2021, the State Government has spent RM1.3 billion for education, the largest allocation in Sabah’s history.

Under Hajiji’s guidance, Sabah has rolled out 16 education initiatives including a one-off RM600 aid for students pursuing studies within Malaysia through the GRS-SubFly programme, and a RM300-assistance under the SENTOSA initiative (Sumbangan Mahasiswa Pengajian Tinggi Dalam Negeri). Hajiji also increased the scholarship fund to RM136 million in 2025, the largest since independence, and established the Sabah State Education Fund (Tabung Pendidikan Negeri Sabah or TPNS) to assist financially strapped students.

In September 2025, Hajiji announced that the government planned to provide free education for students pursuing tertiary studies within Sabah. In 2022, Hajiji has assigned the education portfolio to a Special Tasks Minister Office to give special attention to Sabah's education affairs, By 2022, Sabah has spent RM35 million for education that included three new programmes namely BAGUS (Bantuan Aktiviti PIBG Sabah) for parent-teacher associations; BISBAH (Bantuan Ihsan Sekolah Sabah) for schools to purchase computers, printers, teaching aid equipment, desks and chairs; and AKSA (Anugerah Kecemerlangan Pendidikan Sabah / Sabah Education Excellence) for outstanding students who achieved national and international accolades. In the 2022 State Budget, RM55 million was given as scholarships for students to pursue STEM courses (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Hajiji led the State Government to allocate RM13.9 million to assist 289,204 students buy school uniforms, shoes and stationaries.
