Sabah Sees RM20 billion Steel Investment

Remember, Our CM‘s Effort

Sabah has moved fast in it's continuing to attract foreign investment. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor has been at the forefront, and he has consistently assured Sabahans that he and his team have always prioritised Sabahans. Hajiji remembers that in the past he has assured Sabahans that he will make Sabah prosperous.

He has kept his promise. In January 2024, after months of negotiations, Hajiji has pulled off another investment which has led to a major investment deal. Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn Bhd (SEC) and Esteel Enterprise Sabah Sdn Bhd (Esteel Sabah) sealed deal for SEC to supply 150 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day to Esteel Sabah’s manufacturing plant in Sipitang, Sabah.

The RM20 billion green steel manufacturing plant project at the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) will harness renewable energy, improve waste management, and promote sustainable solutions. Esteel Enterprise Sabah Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary of Singapore's Green Esteel Pte Ltd. Phase One of the project, costing USD1.93 billion, will be completed by 2026 and will create at least 2,800 job opportunities.
